India lost a fighter jet due to political obstacles! The army chief has been cleared, the embassy has issued a statement.
The comments of the Indian Defense Ministry representative in Indonesia on Operation Sindoor have sparked controversy.
'Political obstruction' responsible for the destruction of Indian fighter jets during Operation Sindoor! Captain Shiva Kumar, a naval officer serving as the representative of the Indian Ministry of Defense in Indonesia, made a controversial comment. The Indian Embassy in Indonesia has opened its mouth as soon as the controversy surrounding this comment started. It has been made clear that Shiva Kumar's comment is being misinterpreted.
Indian Army Chief General Anil Chauhan had earlier said that Indian fighter jets were destroyed in Pakistani attacks during Operation Sindoor after the Pahalgaon attack. He said this in an interview with 'Bloomberg TV' in Singapore.
However, General Chauhan did not clarify in Singapore how many Indian aircraft were destroyed by the Pakistani army. This time, Captain Shiv Kumar was speaking at a program at the University of Indonesia in a discussion on Operation Sindoor. In his speech, he said, "India lost some fighter jets. The reason for that was political obstruction.
The leaders wanted to attack Pakistani military bases or air bases.”
As soon as the controversial comments came to light, the opposition started criticizing them heavily. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh raised the issue of why a special session of Parliament was not being called on Operation Sindoor, why the Prime Minister was silent.
After that, the Indian Embassy in Indonesia issued a long statement on the entire incident. The X handle said, “I have seen how the Defense Attaché’s comments are being portrayed in the media.
"But some parts of his comments are being misinterpreted in the media, presenting them in an irrelevant way."
The statement further said, "India's armed forces work equally under different political leaderships. But in the case of neighboring countries, this is often not the case. The aim of Operation Sindoor was to destroy terrorist bases.
Every step taken by India was a retaliatory action, not an attack on its own." However, the question arises whether the debate on the issue will ever stop.
What did the defence attaché say?
During a presentation on June 10, India’s defence attaché to Indonesia, Captain (Indian Navy) Shiv Kumar stated that the Indian Air Force lost "some aircraft" after it struck terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under Operation Sindoor.
Captain Kumar further stated that the Indian forces had also been directed to not hit Pakistani infrastructure or air defences in the first strike.
Only because of the constraint given by the political leadership to not attack the military establishment or their air defences,” he said, while explaining the reason why the IAF suffered lost fighter jets.
The Captain further added that after this loss, the armed forces changed their tactics.
"We went for the military installations... we first achieved suppression of enemy air defences and then... all our attacks could easily go through using BrahMos missiles," he said.
