After Kolkata Police Stop The story of the film is based on the Kolkata riots and Noakhali massacre that took place in 1946 under British India. This was the time when communal tension was at its peak and Bengal was burning in the fire of violence.

 The film claims to show these incidents on the basis of facts.ped the screening of 'The Bengal Files' trailer, director Vivek Agnihotri alleged that people's democratic rights are under attack.

He said that the necessary permission was taken for this. He said, "You can see how many policemen have come here. Are we thieves?" He said, the director termed the incident as 'dictatorship'.


After the first teaser of the film was released in June, a group known for its pro-TMC stance alleged that the film was part of the BJP's 'communal agenda' ahead of the 2026 assembly elections. 

'The Bengal Files' is based on the communal violence that took place in undivided Bengal in the 1940s. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on September 5.


Written by Agnihotri, the film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher and Darshan Kumar in the lead roles. This is Agnihotri's third installment after 'The Tashkent Files' (2019) and 'The Kashmir Files' (2022).
