PM Kisan 20 Instalments

2 August:

PM Modi will release the 20th installment of the 'Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi' (PM Kisan) scheme from Banauli village in Varanasi on Saturday.
On this occasion, financial assistance of about Rs 20,500 crore will be transferred directly to the bank accounts of more than
9.7 crore farmers across the country.

This amount will be sent to the bank accounts linked to the Aadhaar of the farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a scheme of the Central Government, which was launched in February 2019. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to small and marginal farmers.
Under this scheme, assistance of Rs 6,000 per year is given to the farmers in three equal installments. This amount is sent directly to their bank accounts.

Since the inception of the scheme till now (from 2019 to the 19th installment), Rs 3.69 lakh crore has been transferred directly to the accounts of farmers across the country. The 20th installment being released on Saturday will give more financial strength to the farmers.

Earlier, the 19th installment was released by Prime Minister Modi on 24 February 2025 from Bhagalpur, Bihar. At that time also an amount of more than Rs 22,000 crore was transferred to 9.8 crore farmers.

About 85 percent of India's farmers have less than two hectares of land. For such small and marginal farmers, the PM-Kisan scheme acts as a lifeline.
Farmers get this money at the time of sowing or harvesting. This scheme has become a kind of safety shield, which gives relief to farmers in times of crisis.

The biggest feature of the PM-Kisan scheme is that it is completely digital. With the help of Jan Dhan account, Aadhaar, and mobile phone, this scheme works in a fast and transparent manner in every corner of the country.
Farmers can register themselves online for this scheme. For this scheme, the land record is verified digitally and the money comes directly into the account.

Inspired by the PM-Kisan scheme, the government has also started some new digital initiatives. Kisan e-Mitra is a voice-based chatbot, which gives information to farmers in their language.

At the same time, Agri Stack is a digital platform that provides personalized and timely advice to farmers.
